I grew up an army brat until I started high school, joined the navy a year after I graduated in 1999 and became a corpsman (medic) where I served 4 years with the marines as their medic. During those 4 years I deployed twice, one pre 9/11 and one post where we took part in the invasion of Iraq. I was able to attend marine corps sniper school in between deployments which is unheard of for a medic. After returning from my 2nd deployment I went to BUD/s, the selection course to become a navy seal. After becoming a SEAL I served at seal team 1, team 7 and was a BUD/s instructor for a couple years. I deployed to Iraq and Afghanistan multiple times for 9 combat deployments total. After my last deployment back to Iraq in 2017 I was charged with premeditated murder of an ISIS member where I was thrown in military prison for 9 and a half months. During this time my amazing wife Andrea and my brother started fighting back against these unjust charges and the story gained media attention from all over the world. As a family we learned just how corrupt the military justice system is, how the media lies and if the government wants to target you that will go to any length to try and destroy you and your family. We refused to back down from them and eventually we went to trial and won. After the trial the persecution didn't stop, the Navy kept coming after us until the day I was allowed to retire. Immediately after retirement Andrea and I decided to start the Pipehitter foundation where we assist active duty military, law enforcement and first responders when they are being unjustly accused and targeted for doing their job. We raise money for their legal fees, provide emergency relief grants and advocate for them on multiple media platforms but most important we help mentor these individuals and their families through this stressful time. All of the work we do is grounded in our faith and standing up for the truth. My wife and I also do a podcast series "The truth about transition" where we talk about the hardships of transitioning out of the military and how to navigate it through our own experience. Through my whole career plus the nightmare at the end my family has only become stronger through our faith but also having a resilient mindset which we gladly try and pass on to others.
